This is one of the most underestimated and  unknown parts of the steering system on Golf MK2's.  This bushing supports the base of your steering column.  It is often  loose, broken, or even missing!, resulting in a sloppy feeling column.  Replacing this part is critical in restoring that solid steering feel and feedback.  3D printed in touch Nolon, with a tighter tolerance compared to the stock bush.
